
Melinda has been teaching yoga for decades, primarily at Equinox fitness. Since the pandemic she added her classes online at Melinda.abbott.com. Her training comes from a combination of Ashtanga and Jivamukti teaching styles which rely heavily on integrating the breath with movement, and teaches the practitioner to hold still while in a pose to fully experience the potential transformation that is available. In this way, we learn that it is when we approach the edge of our comfort zone, that we are rewarded with a profound shift on and off the mat. Melinda credits her yoga practice for helping her stay grounded and focused during some of the most significant moments of her life: becoming a single mom of 3, navigating new work spaces, and all sorts of other adult adventures! Her classes are challenging, dynamic and engaging- Expect to focus, work, sweat and buzz with a deeply satisfied hum in your body and mind when you are done.
