What is Pilates? Pilates was originally called “Contrology” by Joe Pilates himself and is a special form of exercise that focuses on specific controlled exercises that target your core.

Pilates mat classes go deeper than just your visible 6-pack abdominal muscles and include a network of deep muscles and structures that support the spine and pelvis for better breathing and posture. These muscles include, but are not limited to, the transverse abdominis, pelvic floor, diaphragm, and deep spinal stabilizing muscles.

Pilates is more than just flattening your stomach, which can happen too, it's about increasing flexibility, improving your alignment, and having fun. YES! Pilates can be fun, Kara will make sure of it!
