Riverdale

Welcome to Riverdale. This quiet neighborhood sits in the northwest corner of the Bronx, right along the Hudson River — close enough to Manhattan to get here easily, far enough to feel like a real break from it. The Bronx is actually known as the greenest borough in New York City, and our neighborhood shows why. Here, the air feels clearer, the streets are lined with old trees, and the noise of the city fades away. It's a good place to slow down.

Getting here is simple, however you're coming. Take the 1 train to the end of the line, hop on an express bus from Manhattan, or take the Metro-North to the Riverdale station. Just down the road, you can explore Van Cortlandt Park, a huge stretch of forest with hiking trails and open space. If you'd rather drive, we have a parking lot right at the studio.

You can also visit Wave Hill, a 28-acre public garden overlooking the river and the New Jersey Palisades. It's a real local favorite — you can walk the grounds, sit in the grass, and just be outside for a while. That same sense of calm is what we try to build inside our studio too.

If you want to make a full day of it, the Bronx has even more to offer a bit further east. The Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden sit right next to each other, and just a short walk from there is Arthur Avenue — the Bronx's own Little Italy, full of real, old-school Italian bakeries, markets, and restaurants. It's an easy add-on to a Riverdale visit if you're coming from out of town and want to see more of the borough in one trip.

We chose Johnson Avenue for our studio to give people a real break from their daily grind. Students travel here from across the city, in part because, as far as we know, we're the only studio in New York with a fully grounded floor. The slower pace of the neighborhood helps you settle in before you even step onto your mat. Think of Riverdale as your own quiet corner of the city — good for a slower kind of wellness.
